Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

At Deckr, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Deckr, we collect the following information:

  • Account information — your name and email address when you sign up
  • Content you provide — notes, documents and files you upload to generate flashcards
  • Usage data — how many flashcard sets you create and when you use the app

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve the Deckr service
  • Generate flashcards and quizzes from your notes using AI
  • Send you password reset emails when requested
  • Track your usage against your plan limits

3. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted in the EU. We use Row Level Security to ensure users can only access their own data. Your notes and flashcards are stored in our database and are only accessible by you.

4. AI Processing

Deckr uses two AI providers, each for a different purpose. What each provider does with the data it receives is governed by their own terms, which can differ by service tier and change over time — the links below always point to their current versions.

Google Gemini — when you generate flashcards or quizzes, or chat with the AI Tutor, the relevant notes are sent to Google's Gemini API to produce them. Please review Google's Privacy Policy for details of how Google handles that data.

Mistral AI — when you upload a document we cannot read as text, such as a photographed page or a scanned PDF, the file is sent to Mistral AI (a French company) to be read. This only happens for documents that need photo scanning; documents we can read directly are never sent. We delete the uploaded file from Mistral as soon as the scan finishes, whether it succeeded or failed. Please review Mistral's privacy terms for details of how Mistral handles that data.

5. Third Party Services

Deckr uses the following third party services:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Google Gemini — flashcard and quiz generation, AI Tutor
  • Mistral AI — photo scanning of documents that have no readable text
  • Vercel — hosting and deployment
  • Google OAuth — optional sign in with Google

6. Data Retention

We retain your account, notes and flashcards for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at the email below.

When you delete a flashcard set, the set and its cards are permanently removed from our database straight away. They are not kept in a hidden or archived form.

Files you upload for scanning are handled differently:

  • The uploaded file is deleted from our storage as soon as we have read it, and from Mistral as soon as photo scanning finishes.
  • While a scan is running we hold the extracted text briefly so the app can show you its progress. These records are deleted automatically within 24 hours.
  • We keep a record of each scan — the file name, how many pages it had and whether it worked — so we can apply your monthly limits and investigate problems.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Update your personal information

8. Cookies

Deckr uses essential cookies for authentication purposes only. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

Deckr is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
